Winter From The Helm                                                                        December, 2010

A Great Year!

It has been a great year here at Pikes Bay.  We hope that you have enjoyed it as much as we have.  All of the boats were out of the water by the first week of November and the service crew shrunk wrapped the last boat shortly there after.  All we have left on our winter checklist is to finish the installation of the de-icing equipment.

Slow?

You may think that now would be a slow time at Pikes Bay, but the staff is already working on projects and improvements for next year.  Greg, Paul, Aaron and Ricky will be here all winter working on your winter service needs.  Now that the Service Team is back in the shop they will be in touch with you shortly on any updates or quotes.  If there is a winter project that you would still like to consider for your boat, give John or Greg a call.

Last Boat Out

It was a cold and windy day and our service crew did a great job in loading White Star to begin the trip to her new home in Galveston TX.   White Star spent the season on the 300 dock and was sold by Tim Edwards at Pikes Bay Yacht Sales.  Joe, the new owner, plans to sail White Star to the Mediterranean.

Mark your calendars for January 20-23, 2011 to visit us at the 2011 Minneapolis Boat Show.  Steve and Diane will once again be at the show and will have a small gift as a reminder of your season at Pikes Bay.

We invite you to become a FAN on the Pikes Bay Facebook page.  John Cory has been doing a great job with our page and regularly post photos and videos on marina activities.

Where In The World are Lance and Andy?

Lance and Andy bought Blue Tomorrow (since renamed YOLO) at Pikes Bay this last spring and spend the summer in slip 519.  Late in the season they started their adventure of a lifetime when they left Pikes Bay and headed south.

Their blog begins:
Many young dreamers plan to spend a year of their life traveling the world. At the age of 26 and without responsibilities thwarting adventure, this might be our last chance. In May of 2009 my former college roommate and future sailing compadre Lance and I concocted a plan to live our dream, an adventure of epic proportions aboard a sailing vessel. Extended expedition or early retirement plan? Our voyage is a little bit of both. You Only Live Once!
